David has been a parish councillor since 2007, and was chairman of the parish council between 2007 and 2013. He worked for many years in publishing, latterly at Oxford University Press, from which he retired in 2016. He and his family have lived in Hailey for 25 years. His wife, Clare, is a chiropractor, and works in the village. Their children attended Hailey CE Primary School, and Wood Green School. David was Chair of Governors at Hailey School. He is chair of the trustees of Hailey Community Woodland Ltd. (Breach Wood).
David believes the main objectives of the parish council are to represent the interests and views of the community; to promote the vitality and well-being of the parish; and to maintain Hailey’s village character and identity.
He is an enthusiastic golfer and bridge player, and believes, despite the evidence, that he may one day get better at both.
